I served on 10 different ships, while on active duty, which were officially designated USS. I had to clarify that because one of them was the USS Los Alamos AFDB-7 a floating drydock with something like 22 anchor chains and not a single screw. Among those 10 ships I had a couple that were my favorites. What made them my favorites was not necessarily the metal structure or hull itself, but the crew, the mission or the situation we and the ship were in. Such as a The Commanding Officer, a cruise, a deployment, home port etc.
With that said, it can be said, that the same ship could be the best ship one person ever served on and someone else who served on it a few years later was aboard under entirely different circumstances and be the worse ship that person ever served on.
I have decided to have a little fun and find out what Navy Mustangs consider to be the all time best ship in the US Navy. Even though this is very subjective and subject to a lot of personal opinion.
If you don't see your ship among the "Top 10" you can see the entire list here: See Complete Ships List
